Adventure Recreation

Outdoor lovers will find so much to do in Danville and Pittsylvania County. Our Parks and Recreation departments work hard to provide beautiful outdoor spaces and programs for our community, with over 35 miles of mountain bike trails, 13 miles of Riverwalk Trail, over 1,000 acres of parks, 23 playgrounds, 25 athletic fields, ropes course, disc golf course, zipline, and even a skate park!

Danville is home to Angler’s Ridge, one of the longest single-track mountain biking trails in the region, with a partnership between Angler’s Ridge Trail Association and Danville Parks and Recreation. At 35+ miles, this award-winning network offers a variety of trails for multiple experience levels, and you’ll admire various sections with roots, rock gardens, and switchbacks, plus obstacles, log pyramids, berms, and bridges. The trail system also hosts several annual special events, including mountain bike races and trail runs. Hikers and trail runners are also invited to enjoy scenic views; the system can be accessed from Angler’s Park or Dan Daniel Memorial Park.
